You have to understand, big ships don’t stop on a dime and when an Iranian ship positioned directly in front of the USS Thunderbolt yesterday and after the Thunderbolt tried to make radio contact and blew its ships horn the Iranian ship kept its course. Thus it became a risky proposition as the US ship tried to turn and the Iranian ship continued to interfere.

Understandably, the US Navy is a bit more jumpy since the 2016 event of the US navy Sailors being taken hostage off a small recon boat in the same locale.

A U.S. Navy patrol boat fired warning shots Tuesday near an Iranian vessel that American sailors said came dangerously close to them during a tense encounter in the Persian Gulf, the first such incident to happen under President Donald Trump. Iran’s hard-line Revolutionary Guard later blamed the American ship for provoking the situation.
