This is what every Marine and servicemember was saying and cringing about when the former administration told the Taliban America would be leaving Afghanistan. We all knew that in the not so distant future, the same ground would have to be fought for again and we are. It only costs lives….
Back in 2008 and especially in 2010 we had the bad guys on their heels, truly, we were kicking the crap out of them. Everytime they turned around, Marines were one step ahead of them and had a raid already in motion. Now, we are starting from scratch. Regardless of your political views, you have to say the decision to let off the bad guys, was the wrong decision. Time for a C-Gar
CAMP SHORAB, Afghanistan — The last time American Marines were in Helmand Province, they had a sweeping mission and the resources to carry it out.
Tens of thousands of Marines flooded the southern villages here, and they had tens of millions of dollars in cash to throw into projects that would bolster local support. They spearheaded some of the bloodiest battles of this long war, losing 349 dead in the process, but they succeeded in turning much of what had been prime Taliban and opium territory over to the Afghan government.
