I just don’t get it. In the unfortunate, cowardly terrorist attack yesterday in Tennessee against Marines in their recruiting center, I have to ask anyone out there, do you think this could have been prevented?

I’ve only done five combat tours (there are many who have done more) however, I have seen young Marines and all members of our military service given vast responsibility and authority in combat.

For instance, I’ve tasked your young warriors to provide security for a south Helmand province village in Afghanistan and the left them there to hold the position and the oldest Marine was 21.They did great as they fended off Taliban attacks, shown tenacity and killed everyone of the attackers. I’ve seen young Marines hold their ground to fend off suicide borne vehicle IEDs as they speed towards the gate that protects 200 Iraqi police and fellow Marines, they did great by killing the sons of bitches trying to blow up their forward operating base.

However, when we return back too CONUS, every Battalion Commander tightens their leash and starts treating them like infants again. I get it, you bring a bunch of fire eaters back from war who think they are bullet proof and they end up killing themselves on a new crotch rocket motorcycle. You have those Marines, but for the masses, you have many more well trained, responsible, mature professionals.

“President Clinton’s first acts upon taking office in 1993 was to disarm U.S. soldiers on military bases. In March 1993, the Army imposed regulations forbidding military personnel from carrying their personal firearms and making it almost impossible for commanders to issue firearms to soldiers in the U.S. for personal protection. For the most part, only military police regularly carry firearms on base, and their presence is stretched thin by high demand for MPs in war zones.”

Before all the “haters” out there begin their rant, yes, Pres Bush (Sr) continued the restriction initiated by Clinton. However, with a stroke of a pen, Pres Obama can erase these “restrictions” set earlier.  When these restrictions were set, we didn’t have the same type of threat we have today. We hadn’t been fighting in wars for over 24 years against radicle Islamic terrorists.

I have been on base with an active shooter event developing and what did I see, a gun man threatening innocent victims while restricted unarmed servicememmbers crouch behind cover and concealment as bullets kill. If we were armed, the threat would have immediately been neutralized. The thing is, the bad guys know this.

“The problem is that law-abiding good citizens, not criminals, are the ones who obey those laws. Bans end up disarming potential victims and not criminals.”

Yes, there was a “Gun Free” sign on the recruiter’s doors. It’s called “sitting ducks”. Marines, like other branches are the country’s sheep dogs. They are trained to protect the country, trained on weapon handling and how to protect themselves. I understand the previous presidents intentions but with these bans in place we don’t make these locations (that are targets named by Islamic terrorists who have told us they are going to attack them) safe for innocent Americans, we make them safe for criminals or in the case of yesterday’s attack and the attack at Ft Hood in 2014.

Names of the Warriors killed in the terrorist attack:

Sgt. Carson Holmquist

Gunnery Sgt. Thomas Sullivan

Skip Wells

David Wyatt

Petty Officer Randall Smith

Anyone with any common sense can see that if any of these Marines or those soldiers in Ft Hood were armed, the death would have been much smaller. Look at any situation out in public when an armed criminal threatens innocent victims and a veteran arrives on the scene. Usually, the event and threat are terminated. Perfect example is this week a retired Marine, who is a fireman now stopped a holdup.

These types of attacks will not end, you will read about another attack like this as terrorists groups have told us they are going to do it, unless this administration does something about it. They attack in these “restricted” locations because they know, once servicemembers get off these premises, they are most likely armed and welcome an attack by some weak ass bearded terrorist, because now the field is even and bad guys will lose and they know it.

Make no mistake, this is terrorism by a proclaimed Islamic , Kuwait born immigrant. To say any other is simply ignorance or worse, treason.

I’m not sure how the current administration can refuse this logic, if they disagree, I would say they should go discuss the matter with the dead Marines from yesterday’s attack and the soldiers at Ft Hood, I think those warriors obtain a good argument. Time for a C-Gar
