Intimate photo of Virginia couple holding hands around corner on wedding day goes viral

corner to hold her hand.

A sweet photo of a bride and groom moments before they walk down the
aisle has gone viral. The groom is sitting around the corner to uphold
tradition of not seeing the bride before she walks down the aisle.

A couple in love managed to steal a few moments of stillness during the frantic hours before their wedding.

That quiet and intimate moment struck a chord with thousands online, gathering more than 65,000 “likes” on Facebook.

Bre Curtas, 23, and her bridesmaids were fussing over last-minute
details in her dressing room when Curtas’ future mother-in-law walked in
with a message.

“Sweetheart, your groom has called for you,” she said.

At first, Curtas didn’t want to go — she still had so much to do. She
was worried about her hair, her dress, her makeup. The bride's heart
fluttered as her mother-in-law pulled her to a corner where her groom,
Josh, was waiting — what could he want?

When she sat down, the nervous bride slid back into the chair so that
Josh couldn’t see her dress. She managed to squeak out, “Hi sweetie!
We’re getting married today!”

“I know, baby, and I want to pray with you before we do,” the 24-year-old groom replied.

It was the last thing Curtas was expecting.

“Everything culminated in that moment right there,” Curtas told The
News. “Faith was a huge part of our relationship and plays a role in
everything we do.”

The Lynchburg, Va. couple held hands across a corner while the wedding coordinator rushed around, the photographer Kimberly Burke snapped away, and the bridal party chatted with each other.

She only remembers bits and pieces from her August 11 wedding last year. But she’ll never forget those 40 quiet seconds.

“I think this photo has gone viral because it’s not about me,” Curtas
said. “No one is looking at it for my dress or the venue or my hair or
jewelry. That stuff doesn’t matter.

“I think people are touched because it’s two young people taking a
minute to forget about those things and thank the Lord for what he’s

The couple dated for about 10 months before Bre understood that she had
found someone she could spend her life with. The thought scared her at
first and she says she ran away from the relationship.

One year later, Josh invited her out for coffee.

“As I sat across the table from him, I realized there wasn’t a day that
he didn’t pray that the Lord would bring me back,” Bre said. “And even
though we hadn’t seen each other for a year, he loved me even more than
the last time he saw me.”

“I knew I’d never find that again.”

She said that prayer strengthened their relationship after being apart
for so long. It was also the reason why she decided to wait until her
wedding night to have sex.

It was a tough choice to make, one that the couple struggled with for months. And she understands that it’s not for everybody.

“It sucks to wait and it’s really hard,” Curtas said. “But there is a blessing and a benefit to it.”

Curtas said she’s gotten negative backlash about her choice.

“Plenty of people disagree and they’re entitled to that. I’m not going
to say that if you don’t wait you’re not pure,” Curtas said. “This was
just my personal journey. We made a commitment to each other and the
