I’ve mentioned it here about how your military is at bare
minimums. Not, going to bare minimums but already there and sinking.  It’s funny how so many who aren’t affected by
the current war on terrorism make such drastic changes that affect those that are
fighting the current war. Wait, we are at war? You wouldn’t think so with all
of our carriers parked in Virginia, along with all of their support ships.

I wonder, just wonder as I watch my cigar burn if these
same actions would be happening if every person in the white house &
congress had to have at least one dependent in support of the war on
terror.  Interesting thought isn’t it. It’s
very easy to “do as I say” but the alternative is an entirely different ball
game. Just ask those family members who have shared in the grief of losing a
loved one.

Funding
for war operations in Afghanistan would also be subject to cuts.

Cutting or seizing (Sequestration (law), the seizure of property
for creditors or the state) your military force has already lost lives due to
this scale down.  I dare any one to
debate that because all of our available military, Army, Navy Air Force and
Marines are being  held under Sequestration,
lives could have been saved with the correct support (looking long term here).
Before you send me that poorly thought out email, I will first have to ask,
have you stood in my shoes? Have you been there to actually see what these cuts
are allowing? Have you spoken to the numerous countries around the world who
thought America was the greatest country in the world with the mightiest of
militaries? If you haven’t, then I guess you will have to simply take my word.
If not mine, then how about these guys:

We are going to go to war, put our Americans in harm’s
way, then pull the very support structure out from underneath them?

Let’s just for a second look at this another way. In
the past 10+ years we (at least 4) we have been in Afghanistan. We have been
around the world keeping the terrorist regimes weak, now, with these massive
reductions, there is no way we could even begin to maintain the rotation tempo
we have been doing. Regardless if we pull out of Afg in 2014 (which we won’t
pull all of them out I bet you $10) we have lost the momentum, and the enemy
has obtained it.  Another way for me to
put it, if you get a wild hair up your but to go visit another country and get
taken hostage, don’t count on the US military to save you, they are getting
fired each month.

China, North Korea, and every terrorist group out
there knows it. They are laughing at us and because they like what they see.
America is at its weakest. Does anyone notice how there hasn’t been a terrorist
attack  since 9-11? Do you think there
have been attempts? You bet there have been. Who stopped them? A vigilant US
military. When a terrorist attack happens, I know who you can’t blame, and that’s
the US military. We can’t stop them if you have us in port.

Many ask me, what can I do? Many of you already are
awesome supporters through charities like www.anysoldier.com.
Thank you all! Another way you can “help” is to simply send your congressman an email and let
them know your thoughts.  Its free and
last time I checked, it’s still a pretty much free country.

I thought we were at war? Didn’t you?  Maybe I’m the only one, as like me, we are
the ones doing the fighting, and suffering from these cutbacks. But then again,
I’m no congressman’s kid so……

  1. God Bless you and yours Major. Went through the RIF’s after the withdrawal from Vietnam – not a fun time to be in the Corp then either, but nothing compared to what this pile of odious warm wet stuff we have using up perfectly good air in Congress is doing. I write my Congresscritters every chance I get, but both Senator’s and my Rep are firmly against what is going on and do vote that way (I follow their votes on MegaVote, so I know and don’t depend on their newsletters. Had to after K’Bailey who would say one thing and vote the other).

  2. I agreee with Seadog, but in the Majors post, WE ARE STILL AT WAR, and a withdrawl hasnt began as we gut our forces. Does this make sense?

  3. We are in what in the Vietnam era was laughably called a ‘Fighting Withdrawal’, You’re still fighting, but pulling back to center as they pull your forces out. They have been slowly withdrawing forces over the last at least 6 months if not a year, just at the beginning of ‘fighting season’. Excuse me, but only an imbecile of a Commander In Chief would ignore his generals that wanted the forces to remain at least through this current fighting season. The ‘politic correct’ is much more important than the casualty count – as Hillary said “What Does It Matter, Anyhow” – should be a shoo-in for the 2016 nomination.

  4. this breaks my heart. I saw it coming a few years ago…the demoralization and dismantling of our military…we have allowed the enemy access to the highest offices in the land and the writing is on the wall unless folks wake up and understand what is at stake. Major, you, those who have served and (my) men and women serving have my utmost regard and I am doing all that I can to support them. I try to educate my circle of peers, I have taught my daughter and now my grandchildren to be grateful for this country, respect the flag, military and vets, we write our representatives (such that they are), I send care packages when I can, I carry Starbucks give cards to hand out to military thanking them for their service and to buy them a cup of coffee, we pick up the meal at a restaurant, donate to local causes that support our veterans…not because it is my favorite charity or to brag and feel good about myself, but because it is my duty and honor to hold in high regard those who have served and are serving. God bless you major, the men and women who serve(d), and God bless America.

  5. Everyone, our military isnt getting weak, it already is weak and America WILL suffer for it. – elections have consequences……….
