Hey Gang-Back in a local place for the time as I’ve been a bit off the grid doing Marine stuff and descent chow let alone the internet was a rarity but now the Boys are Back in Town for a bit. Few snakes, lots of badguys your Marines continue to do great things and impress me every day. Our economy and country may be coming apart but your Marine Corps is strong as are the warriors that make it up.

The art of sharing a “head” (toilet) with a couple hundred fellow warriors especially when it’s a port a john is always an experience. Even more so when they don’t get emptied. What you don’t like the food? Ha! You obviously aren’t hungry enough yet. It’s amazing what you will actually eat when you are no shit hungry. Sleep has been a crutch and cigars, chocolate have been proven once again to be a steady food group. Both my showers over the past month have been excellent but running hot water is a very nice thing to have. Yes, I’ve taken several hot showers in one day just cause I could.

Is your week kicking your ass? Well Cmon sally suck it up and know things could be a lot worse. You could be living in a mud hut in Southern Afg with no water, no coffee pot that you visit first thing in the morning and no air conditioner. Feel hot now? Here throw on some of this nice body armour and show me how tough you are when the bad guys start shooting at you and you have to run 100yrds to the nearest cover. Oh ya, take this load of ammo with you. Ya I know its heavy but when your spine goes numb it won’t seem that heavy anymore.

You probably aren’t wearing any sapi plates and Monday is over so put on your big boy/girl pants and get tough. When you think boo hoo I don’t feel like going to work etc, think about your warriors out there day after day with no weekends kicking ass! If they can do it I think you can get through your week and be a contribution to society. I know your warriors are making a contribution!

Time for a CGar!

  1. Don’t know about the rest of you, but I sleep better at night, armed with this knowledge. Semper Fi Major, and Thank You for what you and your Marines do.

  2. You may have already seen this but just in case others have not…..damn Skippy, even Marine horses are heros!!

Even though I am from an Army family….GOD BLESS THE USMC !

  3. Welcome back, Major. I’ll second all of the above and say thanks for always putting life in perspective for us.
I’d love to see some of your lines on a motivational calendar. You know one of those small ones that you flip through. That third paragraph could cover two or three days just to start with.
I appreciate you, all those with you, and your families that deserve the best of everything America can offer for going to war with you. They may be home fighting the good fight and keeping things together but I know every time you walk out that door you carry their hearts with you.
Jana thanks for the video. Who knew. It’s the first I heard of SSgt Reckless. What a magnificent heart that horse had for her Marines.

  4. Thanks warriors for all the comments. Want to help your warriors, help me spread the word about them and send them a post from OMV. Like that of “Reckless” above, if we don’t teach others of those that have gone before us, they will disappear into history and we cant let that happen to your Marines. Semper Fi

  5. I walk into a air conditioned home , lay my head on a pillow , take a hot shower , eat ice cream for supper , have soft toilet paper & the use of a toilet [ not in a bag ] , watch TV but my son & his Marine family can’t . They’re in Sangin keeping it there so we can have it here . God Bless all our warriors . Semper Fi

  6. Those who disobey orders should undergo a court-martial. People have a right to free speech and religion, however what they don’t have is the right to oppress others.
Those who are homophobic are no better than those who are racist.
When you call someone who is homosexual or bisexual a name, you’re no better than someone who calls an African American the N-word.
