One reason I have the One Marine’s View Blog is to help the typical American understand “what” their Marines are doing in Afghanistan. It would surprise the hell out of you that so few Americans really understand what Marines are about or accomplish in places like Afghanistan, especially your younger warriors. As a society now days we are clueless about sacrifices that the military makes. Older generations get it but our younger generation….not so much.  Many of the younger ones that do get it join the military.

Here is an example “Potential Republican presidential contender Jon Huntsman suggested in a TV interview  Sunday that he favors a faster timetable for withdrawing American soldiers from Afghanistan than the one laid out by President Barack Obama. “Mr. Huntsman said the high price of the war and declining public support lead him to question whether the U.S. military can “hang out” in Afghanistan until 2014.”

Dear Mr Huntsman, obviously you have never been to Afghanistan. Obviously you have no freaking idea what your warriors are doing there and furthermore, we are not “hanging out”. There are several other places I would “hang out” at and Afghanistan isn’t one of them.  See America, this is a typical example of how people in general will run their sock on shit they have no idea about. I’ve said it before, if you haven’t been there, seen the great work your warriors are doing then you really don’t have any ground to say jackshit about Afghanistan especially make jackassery comments about “hanging out there”. Tell that military spouse that is holding the household together her husband is hanging out in Afghanistan, for the third or fourth time/deployment.

I’d just rather you say “Thank You” and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest you pick up a weapon, and stand a post. (Thank you Col Jessep)

If this is this guys “view” on Afghanistan, I wonder what else he is going to come up with….Unfortunately even our current congress has different views of their warriors than those in the past. Twenty-one percent of the112th Congress have served in the military (out of 535 – 113 are vets). This is why I try to point every retiring servicemember that even remotely is considering politics towards organizations like “Combat Veterans for Congress”.

I get a kick out of people who tell me “we aren’t making progress in Afghanistan” or we shouldn’t have ever gone into Afghanistan” bla bla bla….vomit choke puke. I ask them one question. Have you been there? No? Oh so your entire ideology is based on what other people have told you or what you have read and formed an transparent opinion on? Hmmm ok, I bet the majority of the touchy feely crap you read says we should listen to Dr Phil and sing coombayaaa as well. You have an opinion on what your warriors are/are not doing in Afghanistan? You had better have some of that nice Afghani dirt on your boots before you can be taken seriously…..otherwise I’d just rather you say “Thank You.”

Time for a Cgar

  1. Thank you for your insight and for all that you and all our Military does. You are not forgoten! IT would be nice if the media would actually report a balanced news about what goes on there not just the political librial views and propaganda.

  2. This is why I subscribe to your blog, Major. The truth. And sadly, most of the folks that live in this country can’t handle the truth. Hell, they don’t even want to hear it. Keep doing what you’re doing, and Thank You for picking up that weapon and standing that post. Semper Fi.

  3. Thank you to all the brave men and women serving OUR Country. I’m too old to serve, but I continue daily to serve ALL the Veterans here on our native soil, and preserve and try to enhance the benefits and assistance that our current Government seems to not think of as “worthy”
Semper Fidelis and thank you all. You make me and my family proud to be Americans.

  4. politicians are a wothless lot anyway,if they really had the gut to do the job they would be in the military, and not the jerks that they are.Oh yep i do include the politicians who did serve but have become the enemy such as john kerry a former navy man who became a jerk.

  5. “Oh so your entire ideology is based on what other people have told you or what you have read and formed an transparent opinion on? ”
This is a great statement and a good observation. I must remark, though, it would be better if you didn’t follow it up the way you did, because, likewise, you’re coming off the same way you perceive your dissenters. It makes your statement ironic. This isn’t a jab at you, so please don’t take it as such. It’s moreover advice that can strike weakness from your argument, therefore giving the contentious less footing in a battle of words.

  6. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
I can’t tell you how refreshing it is to hear that someone still has some COMMON SENSE!!!

  7. I can’t disagree with anyone. America is not at war, they are at the mall, the Marine Corps, they are at war, doing it as only a Marine can.
They, the civies that cant walk and do math at the same time, live in ignorance for the most part by choice and if they had a day, just one day of even boot camp, they would probably run like hell. Ignorance of what being a Marine is all about is bliss for some, and those who don’t want to come out and play after a learning experiance probably rest in peace while still alive knowing that some where in the world at any givin time a Marine has made the world a little safer, 1 insurgant at a time if need be.
My choice? American.I was lucky enough to be born here, and I kinda likethe place, and the Constution I swore to protect. And a random act of God? I’m Marine by His grace, and wouldn’t change a thing except the age thing, hell, I’m only 53……

  8. Thanks warriors for all the comments. Want to help your warriors, help me spread the word about them and send them a post from OMV. Like that of “Reckless” above, if we don’t teach others of those that have gone before us, they will disappear into history and we cant let that happen to your Marines. Semper Fi
