You may have noticed this weeks posts have been dedicated to those warriors who have suffered one of the worse combat injuries and have continued to mentally and physically push through the hurdles. If and when you visit any veteran hospital that assists in the recovery of military amputees you will see a sea of warriors, fighting, growing and perhaps out of pure stubbornness continuing on with life and excelling.
Through their Marine Corps training they have encountered many situations where their body has told them “stop” as the pain is too great only to have their brain say, keep going. Their body will do what the brain says, the tough part is having the brain tell it to continue. Thus the making of Marines.
“Pain is weakness leaving the body” some Marine t-shirts say. It’s not just a slogan but a mentality. It may be “mind over matter” if you don’t mind, it doesn’t matter. All of the previous posts have included a simular element of rough and ready mentally tough Marines. Their bodies torn up from war but their minds are running at 1700rpm. If I were an enemy of the US and understood this, I think I would second guess causing any attention to myself that might bring the US Marines to my shore.Being mentally tough is one of the Marines weapons. Despite holy terror in combat, being no shit scared, pushing through the terror they complete the mission.
Courage is being scared to death… and saddling up anyway. ~John Wayne
Hopefully now if & when you meet one of America's studs who has fought, been wounded and is continueing the fight, you may have a little for understanding and appreciation of what they are going thhrough. They have gone and kept the eneemy at bay, and now continue a fight that will last the rest of their lives. They truely are heroes.
