Easter in Afg
I was on my second tour in Afghanistan and about half way through it. We had taken our share of wounded and KIA and I can tell you like any combat deployment, it had its challenging times. One day I was out and about I happen to look down and see the rock pictured above.

Regardless of what you believe

It’s more than a coincidence that I happen to look down at that moment. I believe everything happens for a reason and at that time of the deployment a nice spiritual boost was welcomed. There aren’t any atheists in fox holes, especially when things get ugly.  It’s ok to be scared when it’s bad, you just have to have the guts to push through it and that’s called courage. I carried this rock with me and kept it where I could glance over to it when I knew things were tough or I was receiving a 9-line to medivac a wounded Marine and prayed he would make it.

I do find it interesting that in that type of environment/religion in Afghanistan I find a cross. A cross made in the rock naturally. I dint carve it, it was left in the rock as it was formed. Like the rock that was moved from the grave when Jesus rose from the dead. This Easter you may not find a rock with a cross in it but know that regardless of what you believe, there is something bigger out there than our small little world. A greater element that died for us.

If the Army and the Navy Ever look on Heaven’s scenes; They will find the streets are guarded By United States Marines.

Happy Easter America…….time for a Cgar

    From France.

  4. Major, thank you for your post. It touched my heart. I wish you a very happy Easter with your family. God bless you.

  5. Thanks warriors for stopping by OMV. I hope all of you have a great Easter and remind each other of the true meaning of the holiday. Its amazing how you can get a lift when you need it.
If you happen to see the Easter Bunny wearing Marine digital camies, I believe he snatched a pair of mine. He is a sneaky rabbit and cant be trusted. Dont be fooled by those “cute” ears.

  6. Bravo Zulu! Happy Easter to all – especially our brothers and sisters in arms, the families of those who gave the greatest sacrifice for this nation, and to you and yours Major. Semper Fi

  7. Thanks warriors for all the comments. Want to help your warriors, help me spread the word about them and send them a post from OMV. Like that of “Reckless” above, if we don’t teach others of those that have gone before us, they will disappear into history and we cant let that happen to your Marines. Semper Fi
